The Transplant Team

Gazi B. Zibari, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Zibari, Director of the Regional Transplant Center and Surgical Director of the Kidney/Pancreas and Pancreas Transplant Programs, completed an abdominal organ transplant fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Hosein M. Shokouh-Amiri, M.D.
Dr. Shokouh-Amiri, Surgical Director of the Liver Transplantation Program, completed his liver transplantation fellowship at the University of Tennessee and currently holds a position on the Board of the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency.

Robert W. McMillan, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. McMillan, completed his liver transplantation fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and a renal transplantation fellowship at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport.

Kenneth Abreo, M.D.
Dr. Abreo, Medical Director of the Kidney, Kidney/Pancreas, Pancreas and Living Donor Kidney Transplantation Programs, completed his Nephrology residency at the University of California in Davis, California.

Donnie F. Aultman, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Aultman, completed his transplant fellowship at LSU Health Sciences Center and a special fellowship in pancreas transplantation at the University of Minnesota. He assists in renal, pancreas and liver organ recoveries and performs surgical evaluations for the living kidney donors.

David F. Dies, M.D.
Dr. Dies, Medical Director of the Liver Transplant Program, is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and advanced transplant hepatology. He completed his transplant hepatology training at the Saint Louis University Liver Center.

Other members of the team include transplant physicians, hepatologists, nephrologists, anesthesiologists, pulmonologists and hospital intensivists. The multidisciplinary care of transplant patients also involves the support of transplant coordinators, dieticians, social workers, pharmacists, financial coordinators and administrators.
